Home Description

Description of the home

Hey there, we're looking for a housemate to join us in our cosy sanctuary. Our place is a comfy home with lots of books, plants, and natural light. The house is fully furnished. There's one bathroom with a separate toilet. The lounge room/ kitchen is open plan - it has big windows overlooking the backyard, and heating and cooling.

The room on offer is medium sized and can be furnished or unfurnished. It has a built-in wardrobe and space for a double bed, bedside table, and a small desk and chair. It will be available from the 1st of January.

The garden is a bit of a joyful mess and includes fruit trees, edible flowers, some local native plants, and a street library. You're welcome to claim a spot for your own veggie patch :)

The house is in a great spot and is a short walk to the Werribee river, bus stops, and the local ice-cream shop. Nearby bike trails and busses take you to the supermarket, Pacific Werribee, and Werribee train station.

About the occupants
Laura is a potterer, bird noticer, crafter, slapdash gardener, vegetarian, lover of ridiculous boating adventures. I'm an introvert and need my quiet time to recharge, but I also value a good chat. I work from home about half the week and in the office the other half. I’m fairly eco-friendly but I’m not perfect and don’t expect you to be. I have a delightful dog who wants you to play with him. I own the house but don't let that worry you - I have lived in a lot of sharehouses and believe everyone has the right to have a say in what happens in their home.

Roger will be moving into the third room in March and is a former housemate of Laura and knows that she is a good person to share a house and home with. Is dealing with some chronic health stuff and slow physical rehab. Likes a casual chat about all kinds of things and some quiet time too. Engaged with community and environmental and other 'nerdy' things. Likes doing some shared meals or just cooking for others sometime. Is an omnivor and-but Vegetarian friendly. Is quite into home and community food gardening, 'permaculture' etc. Loves the sea in all weather and the bush when it's not too hot.
Compatible people
We are hoping to live with someone who has lived in sharehouses before, so they know how to do their share of the cleaning, and can strike the balance between setting boundaries and respecting the boundaries of others. We'd prefer a housemate who has similar environmental/ community values or interests, but that's not really necessary if we get along.

We can’t live with cats, smokers/ vapers, or people who are racist, sexist, or homophobic. Those things are deal breakers sorry.
Description of pets
Bilbo is a 1 year old Lagotto Romagnolo / Aussie Shepherd/ kelpie cross. He's an absolute delight and wants to play with everyone he meets :) He has pretty good manners, is toilet trained, and we're going to dog school.

Bilbo would absolutely love to live with another dog, but they would need to be tolerant as Bilbo has lots of puppy energy and will want to play all day.
