Hi!
I rent this super cute oldie Edwardian characterful house (European feel) with a north facing back garden in Newport (near Newport Lakes) and am looking for a compatible housie to share it with me! Will it be you?
I am a woman over 50, vegan/vegetarian, non-smoker, artistic, green left politics, tertiary educated. I’m a friendly, warm, social, respectful, kind, considerate, fun, communicative, genuine, honest and reliable person and am looking to share with a person who is also.
I am looking for a lovely person with happy manners who likes to create a real home.
The house:
fresh and light, has timber floors, plenty of old school charm and character and a really lovely feel. I’ve left some of the old style floral and lace cottage curtains that the landlord had newly made for the house.
Lounge room has an Edwardian fireplace, casement windows and a sunny glassed-in verandah space with double glass sliding doors - perfect for dining, reading, sitting looking at the sky and wondering.
Bath with shower overhead and separate toilet/laundry. House has independent split systems in every room.
The room available is queen size, sunny, light and airy with timber floors and comes with a double clothes rack, if wanted. It has a split system air conditioner/heater. Room has aluminium sliding window with flywire.
Rent is $915 net per calendar month ($211 week approximately)
Bond is $915
Plus utility, wifi bills, gardener. Cleaner if and when needed. Split bills 50/50. House maintenance shared equally including cleaning.
Any pets need approval of property owner and I need to be okay with the individual pet. Note: no cat door.
Walk to cafes, shops, parks, waterfront. Quick 13 min walk to Newport train station and 20 minutes into CBD. Close to beaches at Williamstown and Altona.

I enjoy sharing and have lots of house share experience. I am genuinely interested in others and their needs and interests. Appreciate both social and quiet times. I like home to be beautiful aesthetically, functional, clean, tidy and homey and prefer the shared living spaces to be returned daily to neutral positions and setting for a fresh start.

I’m active, creative and positive, interest in health and preventative medicine. I live on a plant-based diet and prefer to live with a person who is also vegan or vegetarian.

I don’t drink alcohol for health reasons,
I have a background in the arts, dance, music, social work and human rights activism and enjoy meeting people from different cultural backgrounds. I have broad interest in ideas, music, dance, culture, film, nature, animals, the environment and world affairs. So I read quite a lot.
Naturally more of a night owl than a rooster person. I respect other people’s schedules, activity, quiet, rest and sleep needs - as I would wish people to equally respect mine. Use headphones to be considerate and am flexible with functioning and sharing space.
I like to function in the house in a true old-school share house way with emphasis on the share. Sharing the life together and making a homie social and warm place. Looking for a person who is present, not absent.
Housemate must be a non smoker including outdoor. No drugs.
