Home Description

Description of the home

We have one very large bedroom available in a spacious and comfortable Thornbury house.

Please get in touch and I'll (Andy will) arrange a meeting however you're comfortable doing it - via Zoom, phone, other online medium or in person.

There is a spacious block-front house on offer in Thornbury, right next to Northcote. The bedroom on offer is large (4.3m X 3.7m), in a large house plus huge garden, with immediate access to Melbourne's bike network and public transport round the corner (11+86 trams, Mernda train line all a few mins' walk away). Onsite parking as well as nearby free street parking available. Mia, Pat and I are experienced house-sharers so we know the drill in terms of how to share a space, respecting boundaries while being friendly and comfortable.

Surrounds include a 30 second walk to High st with its cafes, brunch joints, markets and social life, but you wouldn't even know it given how little noise comes through. Psarakos markets, Northcote plaza, ALDI and FoodWorks make up some of the nearby grocery options, all walking distance. The Thorbury local, Wesley Anne and Bar 303 make up some diverse nearby music venues if that's what keeps you going.

About occupants
Hi my name's Andy (he/him), 34, and I work full-time for the public service. I'm quite easy going, enjoy a few hobbies (e.g. music - particularly my local choirs, visual art, films, bike riding) and do a bit of volunteering outside of working. I often work later hours but enjoy an evening in with housemates when I get the chance. I've lived in several share houses over the last 10 years, so I know the drill and how to share a living space with other people.

Mia, (26, she/they)
I'm a queer and nerdy ecology gal currently working as an environmental educator and museum bug person. I love nerdy hobbies like dnd and videogames, I also regularly go camping. I come with some bonus roommates in the form of my lizard Egbert and my colony of hopping mice. They are very all certified cuties and stay in their enclosure. I am also a wildlife rescuer so we have the occasional other critter staying a night or two before they're sent to a carer.

Pat, (26yo, she/ her)
Hi, I’m Thai and a part-time student also working as a chef plus barista, living a busy life. I’m easygoing, spending most of the time outside. I enjoy cooking, going to the gym, camping, cycling, cafe hopping and sometime play my guitar quietly in my room just to chill out. I’m open for chitchatting and enjoy sometime together!
Compatible people
Looking for a easy going people who have hopefully had a bit of share house experience before. Employed or with reliable income is important, and ready to contribute to the basic shared household tasks.

We are not obsessive about tidiness but do like to keep things in a reasonable state of cleanliness. Green thumbs welcome as we're looking to renew and reshape the back garden soon! We have some non-human occupants as well (though in enclosures), including Mia's shingleback lizard Egbert and her hopping field mice, which you're welcome to befriend. This is a LGBTQIA+ friendly house.

The idea is a friendly and relaxed vibe, so if you're someone who is looking for a comfortable home rather than just a place to store things and sleep, would like to hear from you!

If you're keen, drop me a message. A few lines about yourself, what you're ideally looking for and what you do work/hobby wise would be great. Looking forward to meeting you!
