Home Description

Description of the home

It’s a beautiful late Artdeco two story townhouse in St Kilda East. Beautiful high decorated ceilings with detailed cornicing, polished hardwood floors, epic stain glass windows.

The ground floor is communal with a lounge room, dining room and kitchen.
This part of the house has massive west facing walls, ducted heating and a split system. It is pretty well furnished, but I’m not particularly attached to any of the pieces. If you have furniture of your own, we can work together to make this part of the house as awesome as possible. I’d love to have more art on the walls.
The lounge opens to a balcony, on which I have a little BBQ and it could be cool to get a little outdoor dining setting.
The kitchen has a dishwasher and also opens out to a laundrette, in which I have a washer, dryer and there is a clothes line. The dryer is a bit rubbish, so if you have a better one that would be perfect.

The first floor has the two bedrooms, the studio, a separate toilet and a hilariously pink bathroom, that has a combined big bath/shower.

It is on a property with two other townhouses, which share a well maintained front yard which is nice for a picnic. The street is pretty domestic, quiet and you mainly just hear birds throughout the day.
It’s a minute from the 3 and 16 trams, as well as the 604 bus. 10 minute walk to Balaclava station and shopping strip, 10 minute drive to Caulfield station.

About the occupants
I’m Oliver! 30, a composer, love art, learning languages, reading and all things Ancient Greek. I like to cook and host people for dinner, so you’ll get some pretty decadent meals with plenty of wine from me.
I generally spend my mornings/early afternoons doing yoga, reading, studying my languages and then composing at the piano (which is in the lounge) for a few hours (it’s not as noisy as you may think!).
I work as a tutor in the late afternoons and early evenings throughout the week, as well as for the majority of the day on Saturday, so I’ll be out of the house during those times.
I’m pretty neat and tidy, quite happy to clean the house regularly. I love to make people feel welcome in this space, pretty gregarious, love to have a chat, but also appreciate just doing my own thing.
Compatible people
I would love to have a friendly roommate who is pretty neat and tidy, someone who is comfortable with communication, considerate of others and organised enough to have rent, as well as bills, paid punctually.
I would appreciate someone who is understanding that I have to work a few hours everyday at the piano which is in the lounge. Obviously you can chill there and live your life around me while I work, and I am hoping that having the studio for yourself will be an appreciated compensation for me using one corner of that shared space.
If you love art, having a drink, speak German or French, these are all major bonus points for me!
