About me:
People who know me well describe me as funny, caring and easy-going, but I do like my routines. I have Autism Spectrum Disorder, and am fortunate to have many wonderful people in my life who support me with challenges related to ASD through my NDIS plan. I work part-time and love to get out and about. My interests range from movies and computers to trains, and I love visiting places like the zoo, aquariums, and museums. I love structure, and enjoy my quiet space.
I am looking for a housemate who can provide me some informal support through shared meals and time spent together in our home and the community. In exchange for your time and support, you will be paid a modest weekly stipend (taxable income) depending on what is agreed upon between us.
As someone who appreciates a peaceful environment, I have low tolerance for loud music and uncleanliness. I have support workers who assist me regularly, so you must be comfortable with them coming into our home.
I am looking for a housemate I can share my interests with, who is calm, patient, organised and friendly. The right person would be someone that is keen to get to know me, and develop a relationship as housemates. It is important to me that I can establish a positive relationship with my housemate now so that we can create a friendship, and I am excited to find the right person to be an important member of my life. Experience working with people who have a disability, specifically Autism Spectrum Disorder, will be viewed favourably. Given the unique nature of this arrangement, spending some time together before making a decision is important. Please be prepared to share a reference. It is also important that you have, or are willing to obtain a First Aid CPR certification, NDIS screening check, police check & ABN. Please note that this is not a live-in carer role, but rather someone who can act as a mentor, role model, and companion to me.
Responsibilities and Benefits:
As a supportive housemate, your responsibilities would include regular scheduled time cooking and sharing meals with me, modelling what it means to be a good housemate and joining me in community activities.
